I've done it before. 3 times. One time at home and twice at a beauty salon. I have hella curly kinky hair so I wasted so much money because all it did was make it CURLIER. I had curl locks instead of my normal tiny squiggle locks. I was out here looking from the Victorian age. I was so mad.

I've seen this "permanent straightening" video (the long red hair) and it's total BS. Hair grows and the new hair hasn't been treated so think about this people - it's total BS.

We need a video for curly hair and to make it curl better and not so frizzy!! For all races all I can ever find is ones for African american girls and my hair is crazy! But I love my curls and only straighten my hair like twice a year

Brazilian blowout is not a perm. It's a smoothing treatment

That’s why the straightening process thrives in Japan. The culture is so steeped in very detailed and precise time consuming work. I’ve seen a man on his hands and needs pulling weeds from between sidewalk cracks for HOURS. Totally dedicated to the final product!

    17. Yukimiko0001

That is Rachels natural colour. But usually her husband cuts her hair.

can you shout out my nice Jaila Coppage on October 23 2019 its her 12 birthday please

If the ion treatment is what I think from what I learned in science, it would basically be a thing that makes all the atoms of your hair full (I’m sorry if I ain’t clear, I speak french so my science classes were in french so I don’t don’t know the english scientific terms) like there’s layers or electrons, and on the periodic table there’s these pure atoms such as neon and helium I think where there last layer of electrons are fully saturated so they aren’t attracted by other atoms (because atoms in general tend to exchange their electrons with other atoms so they can fake to be fully saturated which is the scientific ion process I think) So the devices they put in your hairs would just like steal/give electrons to the atoms of your hair? So that way there isn’t any static electricity or whatever so they can lay perfectly flat because they don’t care anymore about other atoms. Science my guys

I'm still surprised Rachel sat through that time lapse, she's literally 12 shots of espresso in a bubble.

    29. el peachy

      ahhhh rachel and jun

    30. abbie howard

Im not quite understanding how the treatment actually changes the cuticle of the hair how does it penetrate the follicle

    31. Vonmarie Perez

I have always been in a love hate relationship with my hair. It is wave, curly, fragile, and thin. I mostly wear it naturally in beach waves with some oil in it (I use a lot of oils and leaving-in conditioners), but I mostly do this because its the easiest to just wash it and let it be. It looks fuller when its curl. But tbh I suck at doing my hair and growing up and straighting it all the time has damaged it. Brad's videos have helped me learn and understand my hair a bit more.

    32. Sofy The Shining Star

2:02 doesn't this girl Mikan have the Hermione Grainger vibes??

    33. Marti Lou

Something about the way the first girl talks reminds me of Emma Watson

    34. Koriander Yander

I'm surprised at how well this works on African american hair. There is this African American Girl who lives in Korea, her name is Megan Bowen. She has a US-new channel. She got the Korean Strait perm

    35. Yuri

    39. Kimberly S.

One reason Rachel got it done was because the humidity in Japan is so bad.

    40. Isabel

Rachel's video has subtitles. If u turn it on, you will be able to see the explanation for the process (because they were explaining it, just in Japanese tho)

    41. Georgina Luxford

I love Rachel and I loved how her hair looked after she did this treatment.

    42. Constantia de Gier

      She should not have bangs

    43. AsHLiegH-MaRie HoPe

Gotta be less damaging than usin 400° sraghtener everyday..and my roots are not curly. It starts an I from the root so one of these could help my crazy thick n curly... Frizzy hair. Hmm

    44. Grumpykitten

    45. Mehnas Saleem

The first girl in the video sounds exactly like emma watson

      1. Heidi Hernandez

    49. Pslm91v14n15

Rachel’s hair has never been colored. ❤️ My daughter has a very similar red and it’s amazing to watch how natural red hair can look different in different lighting. You’re right, copper hair is majestic. It gets a lot of attention though.

    50. Hood Barbie

Can someone help me with my frizzy hair I literally tried everything and nothing works 😭 someone help me😭😭😭😭😭

    51. Sarah Mach

she is veeery cute with either kind of hair!

    52. GingerKittyKat48

As a naturally curly girl... I appreciate that your opinion isn't just "straiten frizzy hair." Everyone should do what they want with their hair....but some people really do just need to look at products appropriate for their hair type

    53. Tee Tee

I kept my hair straight for 2.5 weeks straight. Someone gave me a keratin styling cream for flat ironing hair so I used it. When I washed my hair, it stayed stick straight. Like for months after! I finally chopped all my hair off. I still have some stick straight pieces but no hair dresser can figure it out and my curls have never been the same. I had curly hair down my back and now it's only to my shoulders, 2 years later. 😥😩😩

    54. Nguyen Thuy Dung

what is this crossover... Rachel&Jun and Brad Mondo ?! (just the thumbail is enough to me XDDDDD)

    55. GGKook Superstar

I used to want my hair straight cuz i was tired of how my hair would get all wavy and fluffly but i changed my hair care routine and omg i loveeee my hair now

    56. Spencer

Mikan and Rachel, i love them both

    57. SHAELEIGH LOWANCE

    58. Yvette Hill

Well looks like I have to find someone who does this. I have pretty short hair and natural curls who look ugly af and to straighten them is a pain...

    59. Kai-Lee Yeong

Yay you finally reacted to Mikan and Rachel

    60. Jasmine P.

I love rachel, her hair color is natural btw

    61. Ellie Della Gana

i’ve had my hair permanently straightened twice and it hasn’t worked😭😐

    62. Donna Welch

I have had a Japanese Straightener on colored hair. My natural color is jet black. My hair was brown with blonde highlights when I did the Japanese Straightener. First off my hair was not damaged enough to notice after the treatment. It was actually very shiny, not frizzy, and I looked liked I stepped out of the salon every morning when I woke up. Definitely took a lot less time to do my hair in the mornings. Down side it took 6 hours total from start to finish for the treatment. Once new growth started coming in I had to take a flat iron to the new grow or my hair looked a hot mess. My hair hasn't been as frizzy even 10 years later. I had mine done down the middle because I wear mine down the middle, and on both sides. I was able to part my hair anyway I wanted to. I have done Keratin treatments as well. Much cheaper but every time I had them done I would have less curl return to my hair. So now I don't do any of them. I embrace what is left of my curls. If I could go back in time I would of never messed with my curls but learned what cut and products worked best with them. So my experience between two is the Japanese Straightener gave my hair a lot more shine, made it straighter, and healthier looking than the keratin treatment. I didn't have to straighten it at all where with the keratin I still had to straighten it some. So my experience was very similar to the red headed girl. Hope this helps someone wanting to know the difference. I have also done Brazilian Blowouts but that was more so for the frizz than for straightening.

    63. LinaJoke

I’ve been getting permanent straightening treatment for 6.5 years and the reason why I did it in the first place is because I was young and had no idea how to take care of curly hair. My mom has naturally straight hair so she couldn’t manage my curls either and they looked like a mess. After the treatment I always looked like I just left a salon. Damage: on a molecular level, yes. But it’s not visible to the eye nor noticeable to the touch. My hair actually got so much smoother, shinier, sleeker and overall healthier looking. However, you can’t get it over bleached hair, it will most likely fall off. So if you bleach your hair, don’t have it done. But if you don’t bleach, go ahead!! I dye my hair and have the straightening redone every 6-12 months. So much less hassle and I never have to touch my flat iron, which used to take me an hour to straighten it all and constant straightening damages your hair MUCH MUCH more than this treatment. However, it’s a commitment. If you want your curls back, you’re gonna have to grow it all out and it’ll take years. After having it straight for so long I’m finally considering trying my natural hair again but I’m so afraid of the look with “curly roots and straight ends” :(((

    64. Autistic Burrito

I have a naturally curly hair that gets firzzy really easily, does anyone know any good products to help with the frizz?

    65. ItsRioChan

I clicked it when i saw Rachel in the thumbnail 😂

    66. Viktoria

      Rachel! 🥰 Love her!

    67. Kawaii Kitty

Permanent straightening was available way back...Is it not available in every country? I straightened my hair permanently in grade 8 n now I'm in 3rd year of my college

    68. Luna Malefica

RACHEL!!! I love her and her husband's videos of their life in Japan with their three kitties.

    69. Tela Harrison

This is exactly what i have I love it

      1. Tela Harrison

It’s the chemicals first, rinse it ,blow dry ,flat iron, then they apply the neutralizer then one more time with the heat

    70. Anna Dilley

cannot relate at all. My hair is literally pin-straight already without me doing anything.
