Building a huge portable bike jump that fits in my Honda

569 177 Views242

Since the airbag arrived, this project has been on my to do list. The challenge was to build a portable jump, large enough to use with the airbag lander, and compact enough to transport in the bed of my Honda Ridgeline WITH the airbag, blower, and a bike.
What ended up transpiring was a jump jam at Kevin's house, where things may have gotten a little crazy.

I have a semi-hack for making dirt jumps and landings, in Hawaii where I'm from rains would often erode the trails and destroy the features that you spent so much time making, a solution for this is to cover the jumps in upside-down carpet. This protects the jumps from erosion and has the added benefit of traction when wet. This can also be used to make your airbag lander safe to use when wet

Hi Seth I have a question¸, where can I get your address cause i want to visit you¸. I am from Slovenia .

    7. TMmtb Life

You can just drill 5/8” holes at the bottom on each side of take-off. Then buy some long 5/8” lag bolts with washers. Drive bolts into ground with sledge hammer, ramp is now secure. The lock/binders you need to hold ramp together are the ones used on aftermarket off-road tire carriers/ swing gates. Yours are just undersized for the application. Those two changes should make it good to go.

    8. Joe Fran

They say “ bros before hoes” but sometimes you gotta say bikes before boys

    9. Dejay A.

A lip is a part of a jump, the very top, not the whole thing

    10. Marukaz

I have built portable structures with wood before and I would recommend considering 3 or 4-inch hinges and when you want to disassemble you just knock out the hinge pins. This could be an alternative if you don't want to use the wingnuts.

    11. Marcus A

      Hey, please make bike hacks

    18. Peter Kornum

You can buy the level bubble part separate really cheap.... so you can buy one and glue it into the ramp structure.....

    19. Jose Morales

Hey bro, I don't leave comments on many videos or at all for that fact and that's my bad on my part. My job some times keeps me form it, but that does not negate the fact that because of you I have found the hobby that I enjoy the most and it has helped my mental and physical state. I have followed you for about two year now and I wanted to say thank you for adding this hobby to my life. You don't understand what this channel has done for me. All I want to say is thank you for what you do and keep doing it, not because it brings you a pay check but because you make a difference in peoples lives. Keep it up Seth!!!

    47. Josh Kerr

    48. Morgan Rucks

It would be sweet if the ramp doubled as the loading ramp for the Airbag into the truck

    49. Skylark

why don't you put some sort of carpet over the airbag ? no slip out ?

    50. Sophie St George

Why don’t you ride with mudguards?

    51. Dad Doing Stuff

Was Dave hucking backflips while wearing a checked button-down dress shirt?

    52. SK Live

With a couple of ratchet straps you could have put that ramp in the truck in one piece with the bag underneath. It's ok to have it hanging out of the back as long as you hang a red tag on the end for safety. Maybe a ten foot radius would have been smoother. And, 1/2 inch plywood would have been ok to bend on that ramp. Otherwise great job on building it perfect and smooth. I've been building ramps since 1984.

    53. Sasha Haffner

Can you film a Video with the Race bmx on a pump track

    54. kninesa

Hey I have built several ramps coupke of tips I can offer. 1) for BMX ramps (which is essentially what you are building) its standard to use 2 layers of 1/2 plywood. No need to wet the wood just get a budy to stand on it with you screwing it in bottom to top. It will bend no worries. 2) plywood should stop 1.5” from ground - then put a metal kicker plate across the bottom. Plate should be 13” x width of ramp. This will all make the ramp heavier. But when building ramps weight is your friend. Hope that helps. If you would like me to send some drawings let me know and we can email

    55. Alterast

hi i might buy myself a good mtb and at a local bike shop there are some good deals but i dont know the difeance between the big nine and big seven versions of the 20 md and 40 d wicth of the four shuld i buy

    56. Ricky Downhill - RDH

Dude, I was totally expecting you to put a piano hinge on that thing so that it folded up on itself! Awesome riding guys, that was some gnarly shit right there!

    57. Taylor Krug

I'd maybe replace the wingnut idea with a regular nut and bring an electric impact, but that's just me.

    58. Linus Petterson

      7:47 Lmao 😂😂

    59. Rowan Harink

When you split it you have one jump and if you flip the other side you have not her jump aswell
